Application For The Post Of A Steno-typist

Dear Sir,

Being given to understand that a post of Steno-typist has been lying vacant under you, I wish to apply for the post.

I am a commerce graduate with honour in Economics. After doing my graduation last year, I have undergone a 9 months training course in typewriting and shorthand at Pitman’s Training College, Port-Louis. My present speed in typewriting and shorthand is 40 words and 80 words per minute respectively.

For the last 3 months I have been working with a practising lawyer on daily payment basis. Here I take down dictation and then transcribe it. I also look after my lawyer’s correspondence independently.

I am a young man of 21 years with very sound health, clean working habits and aptitude for hard work. I am very much interested in seeking this change as my present job is purely temporary on daily payment basis and not so satisfying.

My present employer is fully satisfied with my work and conduct and has fully sympathy with my desire to improve my prospects by joining your firm. He would be glad to give reference for me.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours faithfully,
