Letter Taking Up A Reference

Dear Mrs. Annie,

Mr. James, at present employed by you as Foreign Correspondence, has applied to us for a similar post and has applied to us for a similar post and has given your name as a reference.

I should be grateful if you would state whether his services with you have been entirely satisfactory and whether you consider he would be able to accept full responsibility for the French and German correspondence in a large and busy department.

I am aware that Mr. James speaks fluent French and German but I am particularly interested in his ability to produce accurate translations into these languages of letters that may be dictated to him in English.

Any other information you can provide would be appreciated, and of course will be treated as strictly confidential.

Yours sincerely,
