Declining offer of transfer

Dear Sir,

Regarding the Boards offer of promotion and transfer to Malaysia, I must respectfully decline. This is not because I do not want the promotion. Who would not want to have a company house and car? I decline because the situation in my family does not allow me to move to Malaysia just yet.

The problem is that my husbands aged mother is staying with us and she needs regular medical treatment at the University Hospital. As my husband is an only child, his recently widowed mother is forced to stay with us. I cannot risk moving my mother-in-law to Malaysia where she has to adjust to new conditions. In her weakened state, the stress may prove too much.

So I suggest you get another person to handle the Malaysia problem. Johnny or Steven are suitable candidates. I am sure any one of these two can do the job. I apologize for not being able to take up the offer but I appreciate your faith in me. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
